Built in 1925, Stained Glass House had some beautiful original features and good bones, but the layout just didn’t work. The kitchen was tucked away in a dark corner, and a small existing extension at the back had a noticeably lower ceiling that disrupted the generous height of the original rooms.

We completely reworked the floor plan to open up the space, orient the kitchen towards the view and added a walk in pantry, seperate laundry and powder room. Rather than building out, we kept the existing footprint and raised the ceiling to match the rest of the house.

Storage and functionality were key priorities and for a busy, young family, creating a home that feels easy to live in and stays feeling organised was key. The colour palette took its cue from the original stained glass windows at the front of the home, a quiet nod to the home’s history.
